How to Order Parts from Jim Carter Truck Parts

You can order parts on line via this web site or you can order by phone or fax. See our "Contact Us" for phone and fax numbers.

Payment Options

We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover Card for all orders. Checks and money orders accepted, (prior to shipping) for phone, fax, or regular mailed in orders. Sorry, no C.O.D.'s. Foreign residents please pay in U.S. funds.

How are items shipped?

Majority of items are sent United Parcel Service (UPS) or Federal Express (FedEx) ground with each parcel insured up to $100.00 without extra cost. Parcel Post is used occasionally as well as truck lines for heavier or oversized items. Truck line orders will need to be prepaid and a crating or boxing charge of $30.00 will be added to your order.

How do I determine shipping charges?

New "Easy and Fair" Freight Policy:
Charging for freight is always a problem with mail order companies. How do you fairly charge for shipping with so many variables? What is your distance from the shipper - some packages are exceptionally light or heavy - cost of shipping boxes and related packing materials - amount of handling by a packing department (gathering parts from adjacent buildings or making special orders), etc.

What formula can be used to be most fair to our customers? We don't want you to feel you were gouged on freight to make up for our competitive prices! We want you back as a repeat customer!

We sharpened our pencils and created a policy that you will like. It's easy! We bill you the actual freight charges! ($5.00 minimum) No longer do you have a $30.00 shipping cost from a chart when your $350.00 part weighs only 5 pounds! We will absorb the cost of packing materials unless we must build a special box or crate. The handling charges are on us!

Our computerized scales now tell our packing department the least expensive way to send your merchandise. For most freight the choice will be between UPS, Federal Express, and U.S. mail. We then pass the savings to you!

Truck Line Orders

All large items that must be shipped truck line will need to be prepaid. In addition, a crating or boxing charge of $30.00 may be added to your order if items are very heavy or require special handling. Remember, shipping to a commercial address rather than your home, always lowers your freight charges.

How Shipped

Majority of items are sent United Parcel Service or Federal Express with each parcel insured up to $100.00 without extra cost. US Postal Service is also used regularly as are truck lines for heavier or oversized items. Overseas orders are usually sent by air freight companies which specialize in this service.

Fast Service By Air Freight

When you need your parts fast, we can ship by air! For an extra fee, we offer next day, second day, and third day delivery. Even Saturday delivery can be arranged for an additional $10.00 above the air freight. Just tell us when you place your order, when you would like to receive your order and we will handle the extra shipping responsibilities.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Only Missouri residents without a state tax number will be charged sales tax.

What if you don't have an item in stock?

At times we may be temporarily out of stock for an item that you request. It will be put on back order and shipped as soon as it arrives. We will cancel all back orders (with a reorder date) in 30 days and return your money if we do not obtain the merchandise. Please notify us if you do not want unavailable items to be back ordered. Credit cards will only be charged for those items shipped to you.

What is a core charge?

A core is your old part that we must have in exchange when you buy some of our rebuilt parts. The core must be rebuild able and must be the same as the part that was purchased. Cores are charged plus the cost of the part. Not part less core. Example: RESP230 $300.00 plus core SPC233 $100.00 = $400.00 total cost. The $100.00 core charge will be refunded to you when we receive your core (only if it is rebuild able). If your core is not rebuild able, you will be notified accordingly and we will return it to you if you so desire. Due to the availability of some parts your core may be required to be rebuilt. In these instances your core will be rebuilt and returned to you. cores must be shipped prepaid to us with an authorization number.

What do I do if an item is damaged?

If shipped United Parcel Service: Do not return damaged merchandise to us. Contact your local UPS office. Damaged items must be left in original container for UPS to inspect. UPS will contact us after the inspection.

If shipped by the U.S. Post Office: We insure your shipment only if you provide us with extra funds for this purpose. If items are received damaged and you requested insurance, take the entire container to your local post office where they will make a claim.

If shipped by truck lines: Contact the delivering carrier at once. They will have a representative contact you.

How do I return an item?

We will accept returned unused merchandise within 30 days of your invoice date.

Unused items over 30 days of purchase will be given a store credit toward future purchases.

No items without a "Return Authorization Number" on the outside of returned package.

Return shipping by C.O.D not accepted.

If we...filled the order incorrectly we will also reimburse you for freight

If you ordered wrong or no longer want the item, you may return it within the 30 days and you are responsible for return freight costs. You are subject to a 25% restocking fee after 30 days. (minimum $5.00)
